Can a slipping clutch be adjusted?

Nope, maybe the slave cylinder or master cylinder for the slave cylinder is bad or the clutch itself.

that could be the case, or on my 1989, the clutch cable wasnt tight enough. after tightening, we never had a problem, check into that before spending any money on it.

Ok. Slave cylinder and master cylinder allow you to disengage the clutch, you would have the opposite problem if those went bad. What point on the pedal does the clutch disengage? If its close to the top then you may be able to adjust it. But if you have been driving it slipping alot then your clutch is going to be shot anyway. Also it could just be a worn clutch.
