How much compressor oil do I add when replacing the AC compressor?
I have a 2002 suburban with rear ac, the new compressor tells me to look in the oem guides but I can't find anything other than they recommend PAG 46. nothing to tell me how much to add.
the compressor didnt come with oil?..if so..add 1 small can off oil charge to the system.
that can is 8 oz thats to much put 3 oz in to be safe
The first guy is wrong. I wonder How many suburbans that answer has messed up it's not an " I guess" kind of Question the volume of oil is somewhat critical and these AC systems. On a 1500 Chevy suburban with rear air and no oil in the system you're supposed to add 4.5 oz of 134 a refrigerant oil. If it does not have air in the rear then the suburban takes 3.0 oz. If the system has oil in it already you're supposed to measure the volume of oil that comes out of the old compressor and add that to the new compressor. They 2nd guy was correct and indicating that it is better to have too much or oil the not enough but way too much oil will mess up the whole system. They answer is on a sticker on the plastic skirt above my radiator in my 2007 suburban. I hope this Helps, stay well.
