timing chains fail around 150,000 miles if it is a 4 cylinder. 3.6 has the same problem.
Equinox isn't a great choice for longevity. Most experience high price problems at above a hundred-thousand miles. could be electrical/computer, engine/transmission, or other nickel-n- dime stuff. If you baby the car and maintain/repair it well, you'll likely get 150,000 miles, but those last miles tend to be the most expensive. So, to really answer your question, stay with Toyota, Mazda, Honda. You'll be happier and they'll last WAY longer.
The newer they are, the worse they get. Transmission failures, excessive engine oil usage, camshaft failures, electrical problems that can't be fixed, the list goes on and on! Older model GMs were much more reliable and longer lasting. Not a SUV, but my 2003 S10 Pick Up has just over 312,000 miles on it and going strong on the original powertrain that's never been apart!! 2.2L 4 cylinder, automatic transmission. Jim
