2000 Lincoln ls cruise control light turns on but it won't hold speed

Sound, like you may have a vacume leak,at the cruze module,or the module is not communcating with the ECM,try removing the positive cable for about thirty minute,s,and make sure the key is not in car when you remove the cable,this should reset it,if there is no problem with it.
