Question type: Maintenance & Repair

i have a 98 volvo 940 recently  got the engine changed also the gearbox. there is a weird vibration in the engine when i switch on the A/C when in gear. it was also noted when in neutral. the gear wont change to top. the RPM goes up-to 4500 but yet it wont move to top gear. when engaging the overdrive button an arrow appears on the meter but no difference in the running of the engine (gear down or anything like that). i got it checked with a mechanic he says might be the sensor for the gear or relay and the engine vibration could be
1) spark plugs
2) spark plug wires
3) fuel injectors
4) cylinders

Apart from this he also told me that the engine was drinking up oil.

Please advice on the above and also how to rectify them. Mechanics here are .......... ah

must be your overdrive relay they can be a pain and maybe your ac pump is loose on its brackets, oil use could be from over reving when it was trying to shift to overdrive.
