need help pls

I'm caught between a 2001 Carrera tiptronic with 56K miles(dealer) and 1999 Carrera manual with 53K miles(private party).The 2001 is priced $1.5K below KBB value, while the 1999 is priced at it KBB value. Should I go for the tiptronic or the manual and which one is more reliable? I visually inspected and test drive both and everytime looks fine. I'll get a PPI after I choose with one to buy.

Which one do you guys think is worth buying?

Porsche 911 in general are fairly hardcore sports cars and manual trans would suit their character much better. This is also proven by the fact that auto(tip) trans 911 tend to sit in the showroom for a long long time and that their values are also negatively affected by same. Having said that, the '99 is arguably the 1st model year of the 996 chassis and have not benefitted from the face-lifted front/headlight treatment.

get the manual. The tiptronic shifting is not great. The new dual clutch (pdk) is pretty good from what I've heard but those are not available till the 2009 version. I've got a 2006 997 C4s and the manual is really fun to drive.
