1998 outback overheated -no coolant

1998 Subaru Legacy outback wagon overheated today - stopped and steam
coming from overflow - no coolant - tuned off for 30 minutes and added
coolant to the overflow resevoir - temperature gauge was midway between H
and C while idling => 1,000 rpms, went to ~80% of H revving ~1,500 rpms -
letting cool rest of afternoon and considering either adding more coolant to
the resevoir or directly to radiator then burping the hose

Typical internally-blown head gasket common to ALL 1996-1999 2.5i DOHC OB, GT, and LS specimens. Toss the car, as a rebuild will NOT last long, REALLY pissing you off!
