Can I swap out my 2.5 engine in my 2009 Outback with a 2.5 engine from a 2012 Outback? 19 Answers
Engine blew in my 2009 Outback and I've found another engine of the same size from a 2012 Outback. Will this be a compatible swap or will I be running into issues trying to do so?

I have a 2013 Subaru Outback 3.6R with about 40,000 miles on it. I was driving on the highway in traffic this past week, going about 65 mph and the engine stalled. The car "lunged" a couple of times then completely died. Had to coast through traffic to the shoulder of the road. Dealer can't replicate the issue so is unable to make any type of repair. What should I be looking for? (Besides a new car?) 9 Answers
