Asked by Bill Nov 12, 2010 at 07:54 AM about the Mercury Grand Marquis

Question type: General

Has anyone seen one of these?  I have only seen them advertised, but none have been locally for me to look at.  Supposedly a limited edition, 2 door with console.  Rare but sounds pretty neat if I could find one!

Steve, Your information is a bit out of date. I am not sure of the exact year(s), but there was an SE model that had 2 doors and a console since 2000.

Sorry Bill but my information is very correct you are searching for a car that doesnt even exist. If the car truly exists then you wont have any problem googling it and getting an image. By the way my cousin works at the plant in Canada that produces the Grand Marquis.

I hear you, Steve, but I saw one for sale online in Florida. It looked to be about a 2004-06 vintage. Floor shifter on the console, and a 2-dr hardtop. I did NOT see it in person, but only in the online ad about a year ago. I guess all of this is moot anyway, since the Mercury line is going to disappear after the 2010 model year. What does your cousin know about the planned usage of their production line after that happens? Shame to see a great Marq like Mercury bite the dust!

I know this is an old post from 2010 but the 2 door that Bill is talking about was a concept car and there was even a convertible version but these were only concept cars seen at auto shows to get public opinion. Neither one actually materialized though I really don't know why as they were very stylish looking cars. Maybe Ford had visions of getting rid of the Mercury division way before we ever heard anything about it and that's why the concept cars never turned into production cars. Only one car was produced and supposedly sold at auction in Kissimee, Fl. in 2010. Current whereabouts unknown. I would like to have it. Kenny/ MrBlueOval
