When accelerating rapidly my 2000 Taurus will shift into passing gear, then out, then in again, causing the car to hesitate and jerk.

Asked by catlady77 Jun 09, 2015 at 11:26 PM about the Ford Taurus

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The car has 190,000 on it.  No problem when accelerating normally, only when
accelerating rapidly such as when passing another vehicle or getting on the interstate.
The mechanic I took the car to cannot figure out what the problem is, but says it's not the
transmission.

May be bad over drive sensor,or linkage not set right on tranny, and make sure fluid level is correct.
