After installing new heads on my 2000 ford ranger 4.0,I installed a new water pump. Now the serpentine belt jumps 1 rib on the belt forward and rides there till it starts pulling the belt apart.

Question type: General

After installing new heads on my 2000 ford ranger, I installed a new water
pump. When I started the engine the serpentine belt jumped 1 rib on the
bottom crank pulley toward the front of the truck. The only thing that looks
out of line is the water pump and the belt goes directly to the crank. Do they
make different longer and shorter water pump shafts

no, was the belt seated on the crank pully before you turned it over? did you space out anything the wrong way? >did you try and re install the belt on the crank pulley
