Temp Guage Runs Hot Uphill

I blew my thermostat, so I replaced with new. I believe the
one i put it has a higher temperature...allowance? My temp
guage is always in the center once engine is warmed up,
but when I go uphill it travels quickly towards the H and if I
don't blast my heater then it will get hot enough to touch
the H and show the thermometer icon. I can travel 70 on
the highway no problem but once I hit the uphill the meter
gets moving. The one I took out says 17/140 and the one I
put in says 16/285...?? Not sure if I'm looking in the right
area to verify if the thermostats are different temp
allowances. Excuse my knowledge, or lack thereof. 08 ford

My son's 2008 explorer needed a new radiator. While researching I learned that model year required a heavier radiator and operates at a higher pressure. My memory suggest the cap was 17 PSI. The problem may be with the thermostat not having the same rating.
