My 1996 Ford Contour Gauges quit working. Car itself loses power and then shuts down. Bought new battery and alternator reads fine. Put on a new belt. Can jump it off it will run for about 3 minutes and do the same thing. Any Ideas? Help Please......

It could be your fuel filter or pump.But it could also be a lose battery cable.Try putting tin foil on your battery posts then put cables back on if this works then you need new cables or post connectors.

I have a 2000 Ford Contour. I ran a few errands yesterday with no issues. I did not hear any changes in how the car starts or how long it takes. I went out to my car today and it does not turn over. All lights/electricity is on, it makes the sound like its trying to turn on, but will not turn. I bought a new battery hoping that was part of it. That is not the issue, left it plugged in over night and did not drain, so it does not appear to be alternator (which was recently replaced) what else could it be? (I am thinking of the starter, but could it be anything else?) 3 Answers

My 1998 Contour shudders, on then off, on then off... when driving at about 65mph. I just replaced the timing belt and it runs smooth at lower speeds and at idle. What could be the problem? 4 Answers
