I have the same problem, it comes back about once per fill up. I have a tacoma 2014, 4doors, 4x4 with 50K miles. I was told is the rubber that connects the neck with the gas tank, needs to be replaced. Seems like a common problem, it should be a recall !!! It does not have much power when the lights come on. I disconnect the positive (red) cable on the battery for about 3 min. to reset it.

It is the air injection pump. Toyota issued an extended warranty on that part. I took my 2012 Tacoma in and they changed it at no cost to me and they threw in the car rental. May 30th 2018.

I have a 2014 4.0 tacoma 4x4 and ran into the same problem. I had changed and checked sensors, valves, fuses, relays and battery mom and then I dropped the Fuel tank with a buddy and boom, found it. Dirty fuel tank with looked like black plastic or Electric tape got stuck in the fuel line and I were losing pressure . Unclogged it drained tank and cleaned it Out really good then we put it all back together while double checking lines and fill hose making sure it’s tight and and then added gas. And brake clean when sensors and pulled positive cable to reset computer then boom

I had the same problem 2016 Toyota Tacoma. Disconnected the battery and it worked perfect, but after running it for about 5 miles the same thing happened again, it loses power. I took it to Toyota service dpt and they are trying to tell me I need a new engine. It only has 75000 miles, I am so confused. What do you guys recommend?

I had purchased an after market locking gas cap for my 2016 Tacoma (I'm not sure why a locking gas cap or gas flap doesn't come standard) and the first time I drove it the Check Engine light and Trac Off lights came on. Also the cruise control would not engage. Switched back to the OEM gas cap, disconnected the battery for 2 minutes and all is good. I'll use the locking gas cap on road trips, but only when I park the truck for the night. And then put the OEM back on in the morning.

I just had same issue this week. Took it to dealer for check. (tried gas cap and battery disconnect first). Computer hook-up showed malfunctioning air injection pump, for which there was a recall that Toyota did not notify me about!! Even though my Tacoma is a 2012 with 112,000 miles, they are fixing it for nothing. They ordered the parts, and when they arrive, we get it fixed. Service manager said recall was recent. Computer hook-up was $97.00, but that was taken care of due to the recall. The cost of this would have bee $2,000.00. Jim

I had same issue a few days ago on my 2017, looked at users manual, Press the TRAC off button for 3 seconds, vehicle not in motion or off. Both lights off, not on since.

Sitting a a dealership now for this exact problem. We had an oil change a day ago and then boom both Trac light and engine light came on. They are saying it is a leak someplace but not sure where.... I think they are trying to make my pockets leak!

I love when people say.. “it is” come on, you really don’t know . I’m not a mechanic, and you don’t have to be to know that these lights could mean multiple things. Yes, make sure you’re gas cap is clicked in and disconnect the battery for a few. If that doesn’t do it, Autozone will run a diagnostic do fweeee

I have a 2009 Tacoma with 314k. Same issue, checked the gas cap and took off the positive from the battery for about 3 to 5 minutes. When starting the truck, lights went away and have stayed out. Only thing I have notices is the idle is running a bit low. Did put a new air filter in as well. Hoping all goes well. Thanks for the postings. Hope the dog is doing fine in the above post!!
