does the valves bend when timing belt snaps

Can you tell me please if the valves bend when the timing belt snaps on the previa turbo diesel, many thanks regards Gordon.

I have a 92 gasoline regular previa, and I think all previas have a timing chain not belt, and is very hard for the chain to break.
