Is it possible for a car horn to work over a long period of time with no fuse ?.

Asked by GuruDZYK9B Nov 20, 2023 at 06:23 PM about the Toyota Camry

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2011 Camry horn does not work. Toyota Technician said that it was because
the fuse was MISSING.  My horn was working before I took the car in to get
the radiator replaced. The next day it did not work.  Is it possible for a horn to
work with no fuse at all.  He insisted that someone had to take it out.  I have
only had work done on my car at this particular dealership.  His crew also
changed the oil in the car the week before.  He found it funny when I asked
him if a ghost had removed it!!!!

Sounds like someone inadvertently activated the alarm but instead of just using the key to shut the horn off they just pulled the fuse. The alarm reset and all was good except the horn.

GA presents a great scenario. Why don't you open the fuse box and look for yourself. If the horn fuse is missing, just replace it and see if that works. If the fuse is present but blown, that indicates that a tech did something that blew it... We're not omniscient and can't tell from here.

TO Ed92626 - You could have kept your smart answer to yourself. Since the fuse was missing the logical response was to replace the fuse to see what happened. No one would think that you are omniscient . Not in the least.
