There isn't any difference between the terms four wheel drive and all wheel drive. It's how they are initiated. There's full time, which means all four wheels drive the car all the time. Then there's part time, where you switch between two and four wheel drive. Then there's on demand, which is where the car selects which wheels to drive based on perceived conditions. Now, it's time for you to decide which will work best for you. Many people like the on demand system as this allows the car to make the decisions about when the car needs to use more than two wheel drive.

I prefer 4WD because you could run into snow or ice but you can't use the 4WD on dry pavement. With AWD you are at the mercy of the computer which decides whether or not you get AWD.
