How is a computer rebooted in an Audi A-6 quattro.

Asked by pelew77 Oct 23, 2011 at 01:19 PM about the Audi A6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The car was purchased for 1000.00, it seems as though it had been taken care of nicely, Problem the old owner states that the battery went dead and in the process, the computer problems surfaced as soon as the battery was replaced. Im wondering how to reboot the computer entirely as to have it all reset to manufactures standards.

The car has to be taken to a Dealer that knows what they're doing and load certain paremeters. It's happened to me before, and it solved my problem. The car will drive kind of sluggish for about 50 miles and then pick up once it's got itself figured out. But, he could have BS'd you and just said that. There have been problems of water getting into ECU's and people trying to mod their engines (and killing them, or at least maiming them).

Depending on year, VW/Audi will set the anti-theft if the battery dies or is disconnected. Vehicle needs to get hauled into the dealer for them to reset the system.

My battery went dead on my audi and I recharged it then three days later I have a crank and no start problem but the problem is hard to find due to not driving the car enough so that the computer could reboot it’s self, how can this problem be fixed? Any response is appreciated!

I replaced my Audi A6 battery and was initially told by the dealership that i have to bring it in to reboot....I called up a reputable European Auto shop and after telling him it's a 2010 , he said it doesn't need rebooting....There is nothing indicating on the dash indicating anything. What is your take on this
