On my 2002 buick with a 3.8 there's an intake gasket set for the upper plenum that goes bad after 70,000 miles or so , there's a water jacket in it for coolant it may leak internally , maybe the head gaskets are ready to blow , is your mileage and performance dropping also ?

If you're losing that much and not seeing a puddle under the engine, the coolant hase to be going somewhere. You probably have a damaged head gasket and coolant is vaporizing nd going out the tail pipe. Or a leaking manifold gasket and you have water in the oil. Check the oil and get an engine compression test.

Thank you. No coolant in oil, trans, tail pipe or on ground. Performance great mileage great. 2004, 3.8 with 117000 miles. From what I understand a top end head and intake gasket set is in the plans for next week. Thank you for your time and info
