When outdoor temps are in 90's why does idle drop out?

Asked by uncool Jul 09, 2010 at 07:47 PM about the Mazda RX-7

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car only stalls at low idle about 2 weeks a year when outside temps are high and sun bakes on the hood of my rx 7?  Once I start driving & air moves thru, car is fine.

Have you had the EGR valve checked? If its gummed up it can cause idle to slip especially since higher heat reduces the amount of o2 in the air
