What is the largest size rim that can be installed on a 1992 Mazda Protege LX

Your best bet is to find a Mazda forum. Other owners can advise on the size and offsets necessary to fit in the wheel wells and over the brake calipers.

I would just go to a tire shop and see what they can do. Make sure that you turn your steering wheel from end to end to see if your tires rub on anything. It will also change a lot if you lower your car.
