Car door hanging

Question type: General

Hey guys weird scenario . A friend while getting out
of the back seat slipped and since he was hokding
on to the door . The door popped out . Its hanging .
The door is locked now . I pushed it uo to its spot
and closed it . The door latch is in place . I think its
the hinge thats broken . How do i fix it . Or could it
be something else . How much a repair would cost

Definitely sounds like a broken hinge. I'd let a reputable body shop look at it. You're probably looking at about $300 to $500 for the repair. If you have full coverage insurance perhaps your insurance can cover part of the cost. HTH. -Jim

You will probably need to replace the hinges. I would open the door and look at exactly what broke. As long as he didn't break any welded parts, you can easily get new hinges from a junkyard and install them fairly easily. Most self service yard will sell them for under $20.
