Are you sure the Pajero has a cabin air filter? I couldn't find one listed for it or the Montero. The air filter is located in the duct work that is accessed by removing the glove box and frame. Remove yours and look for a removable panel. Here's a video for the Eclipse - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPGgnBvngvQ

Not all models are fitted with the filter, from factory, it can be fitted as the facility exists for it to e retrofitted. My NP model GLX 2005-6 was not, but is installable by removing glove box upper retaining clips, glovebox drops down, look center left for an oblong plastic panel the width of the filter and by using a Stanley Knife (box cutter for our US friends) cut a slit around the circumfrence of the plastic blanking plate, easily done, remove plastic panel and slide new filter in, my vehicle (Australian R/H drive) also had a metal flanged bracket that had to be unbolted on the left side 10mm metric socket), also a small plastic retainer for a wire that seves as one retaining screw when filter is installed. A second 1/8'/ or so self tapper is required for the other filter flange retainer. Reinstall glove box retainers and Voila filtered cabin air! Ross. An easier job than it first apperars.
