red diesel does tend to be dirtier, and more regular servicing is required to your engine,i.e. filters but there should not be any major changes to the car's performance

red has a dye in it and a chemical marker. otherwise it comes from the same refinery as normal. red will make more slightly smoke for the same fuel mix as it burns the dye. also it can make the engine respond more gradually as its less easy to burn (a small percentage is dye and marker so not as pure). the biggest downside is that most of the time it comes out of tanks used for agriculture and other off road stuff which tend to be dirty so you get a fair bit more silt in it. the dye can be filtered out but the chemical marker remains and when they dip your tank to check this is what they look for (some additives like diesel power plus or redex can change the colour). whatever you do dont get using it on the road. the marker will infect your fuel for a good lot of tanks before washing away so you cant just stop using it and its gone. if you get pulled and dipped they WILL find the chemical and then you get your car taken off you and done for tax evasion. not good.
