And it is one big pain in the butt to get out, but doable without taking out the entire dash as per the repair manual. Good news it's getting warmer now so being stuck on a/c isn't that bad.

Not sure about the 2005, but on earlier models all you have to do is disassemble the drivers side of the center console. It's one screw you're going to have trouble with. Cannot even see it. Space to work in is about twice the width of your index finger.

nice of them to plan it that way...often I'm reminded of service-abilty vs. money saved in manufacture....like if they're gonna save seventeen cents to use a piece of spring wire rather than a screw clamp...guess they aren't "robot friendly"~
