Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Ford stalls when it is under load only going up hills. I will have a couple of
seconds warning with it jerking and then every cuts out. Have replaced fuel
pump and coils and still does it.

Have you done a complete tune up? Usually when the engine breaks down under load it's an ignition system problem. The next thing to check would be the fuel injectors and replacing the fuel filter won't hurt too. Hope that helps! Jim

Thanks James. Just the spark plugs have been changed. I will organise a tune up.

You have a clogged catalytic converter. Replace it.

Thanks Ed. That makes sense as before it stalls I can smell something like hot sulphur.

I had the catalytic converter checked and it looked ok. So the sparks plugs have been changed, new battery, coiils replaced, fuel pump replaced and its not the catalytic converter. A bit stuck as to where to next.
