Rear door latch on 95 Astro

The rear door latch on my 95 Astro appears to be frozen in the closed position although the door is open, so I can't completely shut the rear doors or hatch.  Is there some way to free up the latch so that it will work again or do I have to buy a replacement?  If replacement is required, what is necessary to remove the old one and install the replacement?

Try working the latch to see if you can get it to fall back into place by pulling the handle out and manually pushing the latch back into place. If not, you will need to get a new latch unless WD-40 or some other lubricant can get it loose. I believe it's as easy as removing the three bolts that hold the latch in, although I don't know on the Astro if you need to pull the latch out from inside the door panel or if it can be removed by itself without the door panel coming off.

If you can not close the latch all the way, but you can still lift it up .Check the rams that hold the can b starting to seize.
