Rearend and clunking noises

I have a four wheel drive Chevy Tahoe
I just got a rearend (used) and had it
put in immediately it is making clunk
noise when braking and turning and I
only have second and third gear what
is wrong?

The used one might be worn internally too. There are also bearings on the output shaft area of the rear ends that can cause a bunch of slop. Other thoughts other than the used one being worn is the correct rear end (gear ratio) for the vehicle and the gear lash inside being checked for proper tooth alignment.
