Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1996 AWD astro van..I was driving down the road and heard a pop and then my driverside front dropped to 1/2 inch off from touching my tire. When I look under the vehicle all looks good and intact. I do not know what happened. Please help me if you can. thanks

If the suspension dropped than more than likely the torsion bar broke. That's what controls the ride height. If the shock let go the ride would just get worse at that corner.

Normally when the torsion bar breaks, it is a VERY loud pop/bang you will hear. Because the corner dropped the way it did, it is likely either the torsion bar broke of one of the parts of the frame the torsion bar mounts to or passes through. Either way, you have no suspension left on that corner, so you need to get it seen to quickly and not drive until it is fixed.
