Who is more best? perol 98 octan or 95 octane?

I have Mitsubishi colt car model 1994, front, manual vitess.
at the the table when i open the key to  start i see the word (check engine) to 6 or 8 seconds every time, I want to ask whats this ?
And i want to know who is the best for my car the petrol 98 or 95 octane?

the check engine light is just a test, if it turns off, then dont worry about it. if 95 works, run 95, thier is no need to run a higher octane then needed, with a colt i would imagine that regular gas is all you would need. espcailly considering the highest octane around here that i can get is 91

Check the manual and see what fuel it recommends.
