69 Plymouth Fury III Specs on Temperature Gauge
69 Plymouth Fury Convertible with non stock 383 2 barrel. Temp Gauge reads high but not sure gauge is working. Need to know how many ohms should cause the gauge to read in the Middle and how many should cause it to read high? Anyone know? Have done ALL the regular stuff to treat overheating (thermostat replaced, temp sensor replaced, new hoses, new radiator, new radiator cap) Testing for head gasket and water pump. Only two things left I can think of except if the actual gauge is bad.
Is your Fury overheating? Does it boil over? Take the temperature with a external thermometer. The older cars ran cooler than today's cars. -- Here's a shot of my brother in law's '65.
The gauge says it is overheating but you can hold onto the radiator hose no problem. It does not boil over. We are running a test this afternoon with an external thermometer on the radiator.
The temperature gauge is actually a voltmeter. All electrical gauges are.
