I have a 2008 Toyota Tacoma V6 4.0 auto. I am getting a lifter noise type ticking sound at idle. Seems to be coming from the drivers side of the engine. Does not tick when cold. Has 1040 miles. Been told by Toyota that it's the injector runner/pulse. If this were so wouldn't it happen when cold? Lot's of money for a truck with what sounds like a ten year old engine. Scott

How loud is it? Has the original oil been changed yet? If not, have full synthetic oil put in with the weight recommended in the owner's manual. If you still have a loud noise, a lifter is probably defective.
