is my backtail lights and taglights hooked together and is that why i dont have backlights

Your tail lamps and your plate lights are fed by the same supply. Your front parking lamps and your dash lights are also on that same fuse. If your instrument lights and front parking lights/side marker lights are working, but the rear lights are not, I would suspect that there is a break in the wire leading to the back of the car. If none of those lights is working, I would first suspect a blown fuse. After, of course, changing one bulb and seeing if that one now works, in which case you have a bunch of lights out.
