Cadillac 1968 broken stick gear

I have a major problem folks.. I got 68's cadillac and
i broke the gear stick the moves from P to R and N
or D .. So I tried so hard to move it with my hand
but it wont .. Can someone explain for me wat to
please!

I don't know specifics on a 68 Caddy, but most cars have an interlock that prevents you from taking the car out of Park if your foot is not on the brake pedal. Could this be your problem?
