2008 trailblazer replacing bad 5.3 with a good 4.2

2008 trailblazer with a 5.3 locked up engine. neighbor has a free 2008 4.2
engine. what modifications and extra work must be done to swap to the 4.2?

It's usually best to go with what the vehicle was designed for , How's the frame on that blazer ? Maybe it's time for something newer
You'd be going from a V8 to an I6, and the computer won't work with that. If you bring along the ECM from the I6, the computer still isn't going to work without a lot of tweaks that I wouldn't even attempt. I suggest you sell the 4.2 and use that cash to get another identical V8. In great shape, yours is worth four grand, and that will be eaten up in mods. And as BUC said, those trucks are notorious for rot out.

thanks for the information. Over the years I have swapped engines, always identical. Your information has confirmed what I have been thinking- stay with the same engine.
