Question type: Maintenance & Repair

when we got the car it had some electrical issues weren't serious until winter hit
and our driver side door stopped opening weather the car was locked or
unlocked we understand there's something wrong with the body control module
but not sure if its broken or if there is a malfunction

That control module controls the locks, not the latch assembly that allows you to open the door. Might be as simple as lubricating the latch assembly in the door jamb. May be a linkage problem inside the door although that wouldn’t typically be affected by cold weather. Are you sure it’s unlocking? Can you lock and unlock it with the key?
