I "washed" my fob and the key does not work. What do I do?

I washed a load of clothes and the key fob was in my pants pocket.  It did NOT get put
into clothes dryer.  Now it does not work..  The car alarm is on so that if I open the door
with my mechanical key the alarm will go off and I have no way to stop it.What do I do???

Take the fob apart, remove the battery and put into a bowl of raw uncooked rice. The rice may absorb the moisture and save it. This may or may not work.
