Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2008 HHR has a very loud hum coming from the front end that is sending a vibration thru the steering wheel. Has anyone had a similar issue and found it to be suspension related? I checked the plastics and found them to be in place and sufficiently tight.

I would check the CV joints and wheel bearings.

No Answer for fixing. However, I have the same problem. My car eventually cut off completely. And won't crank. I had my starter rebuilt a few monts ago. It was running fine until about a week or two ago. Now it's sitting @my job. No crank/Light. Tried jump starting. No crank just clicking noise and the exterior and interior lights on strong. Faced in making a choice of towing to dealership [$$$$] or garage shop [$$$¿honest professional/crook?...] My uncle just got his car back from a hiding/ hostage situation after paying upfront... $1200 for hearter core on late model mercedes (late1900/ eary 2000) then $670+ more... w/promised completions (for 6 mos) moving car from shop in hiding. Received car back and had to be jumped when he got it back with dash lights out... whew!!... Dealer or Garage Shop? Dealership Warranty $$$$ or Garage Shop$$-$$-$$-$$ Warranty??? What did you eventually do?

the first thing you're going to want to check yes is the wheel bearing on the side of the car you hear the noise coming from however you also can drive the car get up to whatever speed is enough that you can hear the noise and while staying at that steady speed swerve back and forth in your lane if it's one of your wheel bearings the noise your hearing from the bad bearing is going to change as you swerve back and forth if you swerve back and forth and the noise does not vary then it's going to be a bearing that's other than your wheel bearings I just took my front end apart assuming it would be a wheel bearing even ordered one ahead of time and unfortunately both wheel bearings are fine and there's a tremendous amount of play on the output shaft passenger side anybody know if there's a bearing that can be replaced or is that differential ruined and isn't it a part of the transmission
