Why won't '08 Vibe start?

'08 Vibe wouldn't start. All I heard was a humming sound or a clicking sound. After a while no sound. That was yesterday. Two days ago the radio changed stations when I restarted the car after running an errand. That happened a few times. Clock also failed to keep proper time.This morning the car started after two attempts.

About six months ago I went through the same thing on three successive starts. After that no problem until yesterday.
Six months ago I brought car to a mechanic who could find nothing wrong. The battery is one year old, and, as stated above, worked just fine today.

Sounds like a bad battery or alternator not charging battery or bad terminal connections going to battery. Best to have them tested.
