The fan only works on the lower settings. As soon as you attempt to increase the speed up into the medium to fast range, the fan stops.

Thanks. I think you're right. What I found a bit unusual is that it doesn't operate on high speed only. Instead, it operates only on low. Hey for about $30, I will replace the resistor.
