What is the Electronic Throttle Control and what is
it's purpose? The ETC light came on. Also the
malfunction indicator light came on.
is it throttle control or traction control?
In the old days there was a cable that went from the accelerator pedal to the throttle body or carburetor. Now you have an accelerator pedal position sensor. When you step on the accelerator pedal a signal is sent to the PCM (computer). The PCM uses a small electric motor to open or close the throttle based on the signal from the accelerator pedal position sensor. Most likely the PCM is getting a skewed signal from the accelerator pedal position sensor. That's why both lights are on. Best to have it looked at. HTH. - Jim
