can a universal ignition switch be used in a 2004 chevy cavalier?

bought this car for my daughter. have trouble getting the key into the ignition. want to know if i can replace it with a (cheaper) universal ignition switch or have to go with the (pricier) suggested switch?

yes...depending on wires and ends and plugs and if it fits in the same place...on line you can get different ign switches with different ends/imputs/plugs/spade/ nuts...
