I have a chevy venture van and I was taking the alterntor out and it fell behind the motor what can I do

if that vehicle is front drive, and the engine is mounted sideways then you may be able to roll the engine forward to gain more access. this isn't as hard as it sounds. a Haynes or Chilton manual would help.
