86 electrical

Asked by Hawaii9 Nov 05, 2009 at 09:09 PM about the 1986 Porsche 944

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 86 944 with a bunch of electrical problems. First the windows quit. That was some time ago. Recently I lost
the wipers, both front and rear. The fogs have gone, the air blowers, and the ect. mirrors. I think they all went at once. I
first cleaned 6 of the 7 grounds, checked all the fuses, and then all the relays for continuity, cleaned the lug’s,  every
thing checks out fine.

I did find a squat item in with the relays called "spare links" Could this be the problem? can't figure out how to check
it. Can anyone help with this? What and how do i check next?  HELP

Thanks,

Paul

Did you clean the fuse box contacts itself? I know the 924 and some of the early 944 had problems with positive the connection going there. To give me a little more backround, is your fuse box under the dash or under the hood?

I have the exact same problem. 86 944, wipers, windows, mirrors, heater fan, all not working. I cleaned and checked all grounds, replaced fuses, and couple relays, still nothing. Any chance you discovered the solution?
