1975 3.3l 930 into a 1974 911s?

Asked by Anthony Aug 31, 2010 at 09:40 AM about the 1974 Porsche 911

Question type: Car Customization

Can the 3.3l drop right in? If so, is the current transmission, and any other parts on the 911s
compatible with the 930 3.3l?

Yes, you will need to mix and match clutch parts, use the 930 flywheel and I believe the rest is stock 2.4l stuff. The 74 911 had the early version of the 915 transmission, which is particularly weak. You can get away with it so long as the 3.3l motor is kept stock. You will need a decklid and tail that will clear the intercooler.
