flashing dash light

Question type: General

I noticed a flashing red light on the dash of my car when it was not running.  My
husband checked it out and said it was labeled 'key'...is this normal?  I don't
recall seeing this before but I don't get out much.

The car had been parked and locked for 2 days at that point and we weren't going anywhere...no one was using the keys for anything...
