fluid coming from dashboard

Asked by Ben Aug 15, 2021 at 12:49 AM about the 2007 Nissan Frontier

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

90 plus degree day. I had clear, slightly oily fluid leaking from the passenger
side dashboard. nothing in either glove box. Over a cup of fluid on
floorboards and on the pavement from the back of the wheel well. I could not
find any signs of leaking hoses and my radiator fluid level was normal.
I have not checked other fluid levels.

Is the fluid sweet smelling or sweet tasting or slimy? If so it is coolant and the heater core or heater hose is the problem. If it is just plain water then the A/C condensate drain is plugged causing the water to drain inside the car instead of outside like it should. It could also have a cracked HVAC plenum.
