1970 rusted out, red convertible, engine still looks good, I have no idea what to take for it, it was my dads car a long time ago.

Even with the car being a rust bucket, there are people that will buy it and rebuild it. Without a photo I would say no less then $3,000.00

Does it run? If not, getting more than $500 is optimistic unless there are other features you can identify like a special engine or body style like a GTO. At least it is a convertible. That will help with the value.
