heater takes too long to heat up

I have a 2006 chevy impalla and it takes to long to heatup , have to go at least 1- 2 miles, car has 60,000 miles on it--also the radater fan comes on in colder weather ,40 degrees outside but temp. guage in dash appears to be normal about hafe way as it always has been.???

i would say that the thermostat is stuck open for the taking 2 long to heat up.
