82 VW pickup starts, runs for about 10 seconds, can't start again for 15-20 mintues

after start, runs about ten seconds then have to wait about 15-20 mintues before it will start again, for about 10 seconds. Gas injected engine. Been setting about 2 years.

might be a restriction in the fuel system. check the fuel cap and make sure the lines are clear and the fuel pump keep running

Not sure what Alex is talking about with "checking the fuel cap" the problem likely lies in a blocked screen on the control pressure regulator or a stuck air plate. Remove the 2 lines to the CPR (the metal box on the front of the engine) and clean the inlet screen. Remove the upper half of the airbox and make sure that the metering plate is not stuck- if it is then lubricate it.
